The Society integrates the co-curricular and extracurricular activities into its curriculum and makes it mandatory for each child to participate in any activity he/she likes. This is the motto of the path-breaking IGNITE FEST a potpourri of different competitive activities in which students exhibit their innate potentials which play an indispensable role in preparing students for life beyond classrooms.

The Society recognizes the inevitable significance of healthy teacher-parent relationship and the definite need for the teachers to understand the socio-economic conditions of the students’ families on a first- hand basis. As part of this programme, during vacation or on other holidays heads of the institutions and teachers visit the native village of students to have a tete-a-tete with the parents of the students. During the discussion, the parents are appraised of the students’ progress and suggestions are given to parents about the importance of education. This programme provided a space for the teachers to appreciate various socio-economic factors in influencing students’ psychology and personal behavior, and aspirations of the parents. These important factors that have a telling effect on the child’s academic performance and his/her personality development can only be understood when there is one-to one communication between parents and teachers.

The boys and girls studying in Society schools hail from rural areas where there is little access to the English language and hardly any exposure to the English use. Society has initiated English-Plus ( E Plus) and Writing – Plus (W Plus) Club Activities to help students compete with other students who have the advantage of English speaking and writing skills. These two club activities were taken up as flag-ship activities wherein the students speak and write on a given topic in English bashlessly. The E-Plus and W-Plus club activities have been incorporated into school curriculum. Unlike in a traditional English speaking class there will not be any interference from the teacher. The children are encouraged to speak and write freely and fluently, while the teacher merely acts as facilitator. The implementation of the E-Plus activity has a tremendous impact on the communicative skills of the students in English. The hesitation and phobia of the English language have vanished among the boys and girls and making the students as fluent speakers of English. Their unwanted fears to speak English are attenuated and kept at bay and now the students speak euphoniously over many issues in English.

Brilliant and enthusiastic students who have a flair for teaching are encouraged to teach their own peers in their respective schools. It is teaching for the students and by the students. Teaching assistants teach their peers in the absence of teachers and also during study hours. This programme is intended for the edification of students.

Amid the continued uncertainty over the prospect of reopening of schools in the unprecedented times of covid19 pandemic, students of Telangana Social Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) has risen to the occasion during the challenging times of corona pandemic by converting an adversity into an opportunity. Students themselves started a silent academic revolution in Telangana’s rural villages and tribal areas by launching Village Learning Circles (VLCs) to promote continuity of studies, while schools remain closed due to corona pandemic`. Tenacious and zestful students with excellent communication and teaching skills have set the ball rolling by converting homes, church compounds, religious places, school buildings, community halls, etc., as learning centres with the support of village sarpanches, public representatives, volunteers, parents, teachers and community members. Some exceptional and brilliant students from classes 6 to degree have been diligently conducting themselves as teachers and imparting education to their younger schoolmates and peers in his/her village/locality as pandemic keeps schools shut. VLCs have been keeping the lamp of learning shining and bridging learning gap and digital deprivation in extraordinarily challenging times of covid 19. In fact, these are serving as ideal platforms for poor and underprivileged children to keep up with their studies, despite lack of resources like smartphones, internet connectivity and laptops.

‘S.R.Sankaran Super Student Trophy’ is one of the unique experiments the TSWREI Society has introduced with incredible success. This one of its kind “Earn While You Learn” innovative program wherein the brilliant students who have a talent for teaching skills teach their peers in a live interactive telecast on government run MANA TV. The ‘Super Student’ programme has attracted the attention of many experts and experimentalists in pedagogy. This programme became an inspiring model for others to emulate and stimulated keen interest among the students in learning through teaching. The best Super Students are awarded cash prizes’ besides a certificate of commendation. Senior students are provided an honarorium of Rs 1500/- per hour and juniors Rs 1000/- per hour.
