Freedom school is a democratic school wherein all the stakeholders (from principal to attender) have the freedom to choose all activities of the school which run from dawn to dusk in a free and democratic environment. The main objective of freedom schools is to break all the conventional way of teaching and learning methods like structured classrooms, time bound class periods, exams, passive and rote learning, etc and provide a democratic space for the students to express their inherent potential in various walks of life. The Society runs 87 freedom schools. In Freedom Schools, students are encouraged to pose questions as questioning is the path to enlightenment. The primary focus is questions and discussion rather than memorization of facts and dates. The teachers are well trained to elicit the best from the students in terms of comprehension and their expression of their experiences.
